Pasadena’s Earth Hour?

Global Earth Hour – Lights Out campaign?

On behalf of the City Council, San Clemente Green was presented with this PROCLAMATION…

Whereas, global warming is one of the most critical issues facing the world today; and

Whereas, exercising small acts of energy conservation can significantly impact the fight against global warming, pollution and other environmental threats; and

Whereas, Earth Hour 2008 is a global movement to encourage individuals and businesses to turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness about climate change and symbolize the positive difference that can be achieved if people of the world work together; and

Whereas, the City encourages its citizens to join other environmentally concerned citizens across six continents by participating in Earth Hour 2008.

Now, therefore, I, Joe Anderson, Mayor of the City of San Clemente acting on behalf of the City Council and citizens of San Clemente, do hereby proclaim March 29, 2008 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., as
?Earth Hour 2008?
and by so doing, urge all citizens to support this effort to protect the earth?s environment by turning off all non-essential lighting and electronics in their home or business during this hour.? I do further encourage citizens to become aware of specific actions they can take on a daily basis to address climate change and protect our planet for future generations.
