Our Earth Day celebration last Saturday was a great success! (see Sun Post Article here). Thank you
so much to those of you who were able to join us, to those who so
graciously helped at the booth, and especially those on the "Jean
Team"! (see photos at this link)
Besides having some fun, and enjoying the music provided by
"Gratitude", we were able to convey a more serious message about the
harmful effects of plastic in the environment, and offer a cool
alternative to grocery bags. In the process, we also managed to collect
just over $1000 in donations, and over 150 signatures on our "Bring
Your Own Bag" petition.
We still have some of the bags our "Jean Team" created, if you missed
out on getting one for yourself. Contact us if you are interested.
There are a couple of stores that may be displaying them for us to keep
the donations coming in.
So now that it’s over, we are taking a bit of a breather. Our next
meeting will be at the end of May. We’ll keep you posted on any special
announcements or events. We plan to present our BYOB initiative to the
City Council soon, so we’ll be sure to notify you about that!
