(NRC) 2010 Performance Review for SONGS
When: Thursday, April 28th at 5:00pm (okay to come
late as there will likely be a follow-up news conference)
Where: CUSD 33122 Valle Road, San Juan Capistrano (MAP) – Entrance to meeting is by the flag pole.
Why: Like many government agencies responsible for
oversight such as Wall Street, Offshore Drilling, and Health Care,
the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) continues to rule in favor of
the industry instead of the public safety for which they were
established.
Please spread the word to other concerned citizens and bring signs to
show your own specific concerns. CNN and other major news agencies are
expected.
OBJECTIVES…
Immediate closure of SONGS and Diablo Canyon as well
as all other nuclear power plants in the nation which are in close
proximity to seismic fault zones and dense populations. All radioactive
waste should be carefully removed and stored safely away from populated
and seismic locations as soon as possible.
California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and California Energy
Commission (CEC) should redirect billions of dollars in
ratepayer funds towards clean energy sources, establish easy
financing for residential solar pv, and energy conservation programs,
which would otherwise have gone towards costly research and upgrading of
SONGS and Diablo Canyon nuclear power plants.
Establish an Independent Review Panel to evaluate Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) evacuation plans for a 50 mile radius
(7.4 Million People), and investigate NRC’s apparent bias
towards the industry rather than towards public safety.
